Pro Tech Toolkit Care and Use
This help doc will give a breakdown of all the elements of the Pro Tech Toolkit and will give instructions on how to properly care for your Pro Tech Tool kit.
- Easy-to-Open Magnetized Case
- Apply opposing pressure to the top and bottom sides of the case (like opening a jar)
- Lid with Built-in Sorting Tray
- 150 mm Flex Extension
- Used to get to those hard-to-reach screws
- The bits are held in with friction
- Please reference this guide for additional help
- Also, note that the screws will not be held to the bit due the to friction system and not magnetic
- The bits however can be magnetized with a magnetizer/demagnetizer if that functionality is desired and that can be purchased here
- 4 mm Aluminum Bit Driver
- This is not a pry tool
- The magnetic bit holder transmits magnetism through the screwdriver bit, helping you handle all those tiny screws.
- If you are experiencing any issues with the rotating end of the driver please reference the fixes in this guide.
- 4 mm Screwdriver Bits
- For rust prevention, store the toolkit in a well-ventilated dry place indoors. Avoid prolonged exposure to humid, wet environments.
- If you live in a humid wet environment (or anywhere) then utilize the desiccant bag that comes inside the bit case and add a few more for good measure
- For rust removal: A bath with vinegar or Evapo-Rust or something along those lines works pretty well. After de-rusting a coating of oil should be re-applied, silicone spray, WD-40, spray wax, or anything to keep the elements off the surface of the material.
- 1/4" to 4 mm Driver Adapter
- The bits are held in with friction

- Anti-Static Wrist Strap
- Helps protect your electronics from accidental electrostatic discharge (ESD) damage during repairs.
- The anti-static wrist strap is not designed to be conductive. In fact, it is designed to do the exact opposite of conducting static electricity, as wearing a conductive component during electronic repairs would more likely allow electrostatic discharge to harm your device.
- It is designed to be highly resistant to anti-static buildup when used in conjunction with a ground, and it will protect your electronics from electrostatic discharge damage during repairs when worn and used in conjunction with a ground
- We have this guide detailing how to use this wrist strap
- Suction Handle
- Works best under a warmer environment. When too cold the plastic suction portion becomes stiff and harder to adhere.
- Even in a cold environment, the suction handle can be warmed up from the heat of your hands (or putting it in your pocket, or under an iOpener).
- Works best on a smooth, flat glass surface. Cracked/shattered screens may pose difficulty in obtaining adequate suction. If your screen is cracked/shattered and suction cannot be obtained, try this trick instead, using tape.

- Nylon Tipped Reverse Tweezers
- Angled ESD Tweezers
- ESD safe
- But shouldn't be used on live circuits. There won't be any transmission between the user's hand and the metallic tips, but the metallic nature of the tweezers means that they are electrically conductive from tip to tip.
- With angled, pointed tips for hard-to-reach places
- It comes with a small cap to cover the point that is consumable and not covered under warranty
- If you notice the cap splitting you can reinforce it with some tape
- ESD safe
- Blunt ESD Tweezers
- ESD safe
- But shouldn't be used on live circuits. There won't be any transmission between the user's hand and the metallic tips, but the metallic nature of the tweezers means that they are electrically conductive from tip to tip.
- Blunted tips for powerful precision work.
- It comes with a small cap to cover the point that is consumable and not covered under warranty
- If you notice the cap splitting you can reinforce it with some tape
- ESD safe
- Spudger
- Poke and pry ask much as you like with this spudger
- The tool also includes a notch for hooking wires.
- The glass-filled nylon Spudger is the preferred spudger for use while soldering.
- The pliable and antistatic properties make it ideal for working around sensitive electronic components without fear of shocking or scratching them (ESD safe)
- This tool is designed to break before the device does
- Consumable - not covered under warranty
- Can be purchased here Spudger
- Halberd Spudger
- Specifically shaped for electronics repair, this spudger features a hook for scooping, scraping, pulling, and guiding.
- ESD-safe fiber-reinforced nylon
- This tool is designed to break before the device does
- Consumable - not covered under warranty
- Can be purchased here Halberd Spudger
- Metal Spudger
- The ultimate prying tool for if you need a little more power than the opening tools can provide
- Be sure to exercise caution when using this tool. With its great strength comes the potential to scratch or otherwise damage components

- Can be very sharp
- Often times can not be taken on a plane, please read this blog post if you intend to travel with your Pro Tech Toolkit
- Magnetic Pad
- Holds the bit case to the tool roll
- If you are dealing with lots of screws or you don't want the screws to move around this pad can also hold onto those screws for you
- Tool Roll
- Made of polyester
- If it gets dirty you can wash it with standard polyester washing guidelines
- Medium heat washing temperature
- Air dry (no dryer)
